If you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments.” He asked him, “Which ones?” And Jesus replied, “ ‘You shall not kill; you shall not commit adultery; you shall not steal; you shall not bear false witness; honor your father and your mother’; and ‘you shall love your neighbor as yourself.’” The young man said to him, “All of these I have observed. What do I still lack?”

that’s not easy to do in this world... I wouldn’t call that nothing?

God’s answer:

“If you wish to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to [the] poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” When the young man heard this statement, he went away sad, for he had many possessions.

Question: What are trying to say?

God’s answer:

'Do not store up treasures for yourselves on earth, where moth and woodworm destroy them and thieves can break in and steal. But store up treasures for yourselves in heaven, where neither moth nor woodworm destroys them and thieves cannot break in and steal. For wherever your treasure is, there will your heart be too.”

Question: Meaning he’s materialistic?

God’s answer:

Uncharitable
He’s not a humanitarian.

Question: And this is why you say he is doing nothing?

God’s answer:

No love for others

Meaning: In the story, the rich young man claims that he was doing what Jesus said was necessary to enter Heaven including loving your neighbor as yourself. Yet, what Jesus said to him in reply was: He must first sell everything and give to the poor. Meaning, he was not doing what he claims to be doing, which is to love one’s neighbor as yourself. Jesus answer was actually a challenge for the man to do prove that he was indeed doing what he says he’s already doing.

He was a hypocrite.
It’s all posturing.
